Yardley's disappointing season continues

Solihull Editorial 21st Nov, 2017   0

HOCKEY: YARDLEY’S disappointing season did not improve at the weekend as they crashed to a 5-1 loss in their latest West Midlands Division One contest against Wednesbury.

Despite being evenly matched in the league, Yardley struggled to deal with the creative attacks their opposition enforced.

Missing key players as a result of illness, Yardley were handed a blow before the game had even started.

But their XI started the game brightly with a series of good interchanging passes and combinations between the defenders and the midfield.

Wednesbury proved a handful on the counter though, and it got worse when Yardley were reduced to ten-men following an injury.

It was Wednesbury that opened the scoring before Yardley equalised prior to half time.

Hopes of gaining any points were quickly dashed though when the home side made the most of some tired Yardley legs to strike four times in the second half.

Yardley are back in action this weekend against Pershore.
