SOLIHULL Moors attacking midfielder Joe Sbarra has committed his future to the club by signing a new two-year deal.

The 23-year-old has agreed a new and improved two-year contract at the ARMCO Arena, with the option of a further year.

Sbarra played a vital role throughout the 2021/22 season, with his 18 league goals and performances helping Moors record a third-place finish in the National League.

He scooped four of the club’s end of season awards and was named in the National League Team of the Season before picking up the Non-League Paper’s Young Player of the Season accolade.

Sbarra said: “Last season was the most enjoyable of my career and I love it here – the fans, the players and the manager as well have obviously helped me a lot.

“There is a lot to say about enjoying football and last season I enjoyed my football more than I ever have, so I’m just delighted to have sorted this.

“Whatever part I can play to help the team I’m ready to do it and hopefully we can do even more next season.”

Manager Neal Ardley added: “I’m delighted to get this deal over the line. Joe deserves it and it’s a signal of intent after missing out at the death last season.

“It’s important we try to keep talent like Joe here and build on it for seasons to come. Joe can play in a number of positions for us and from day one when I arrived, I thought he was a top player and a great person.”

The latest contract sees Sbarra sign on the dotted line until at least the end of the 2023/24 campaign, where he’ll be looking to add to his 95 appearances and 26 goals to date.
