BIRMINGHAM Speedway have announced Curtis Sport as their new main team sponsor for 2022.

The Aldridge based programme publishers have been long-term backers of the Brummies but have now stepped up their support even further ahead of what promises to be an exciting season at Perry Barr.

It means the second city outfit will be known as the Curtis Sport Birmingham Brummies for the forthcoming Championship campaign.

And team boss Laurence Rogers is thrilled to have another local firm backing his side.

Rogers said: “We can’t thank Stuart Curtis and his team enough and we’re over the moon to welcome Curtis Sport on board as our new main team sponsors.

“We had a few bits of interest along the way but as the season got closer and closer, Stuart expressed a real keen interest to up Curtis Sport’s involvement with the Brummies.

“We discussed one or two things and before we knew it, we’d reached an agreement which would see Birmingham known as the Curtis Sport Brummies for 2022.

“They’re a well-known, local business who have some real Speedway enthusiasts within the company.

“I think it’s a real positive story all-round of a successful local business really getting behind a local sports’ club’s new era and here’s to a successful partnership.”

Curtis Sport Managing Director Stuart Curtis said: “Having been involved with Birmingham Speedway for the past decade, we were really pleased to see the club saved by the new consortium at the back end of last year.

“We offered our usual support to the Brummies during the winter and when we realised the opportunity to become main team sponsors was still there, we were straight on the ‘phone.

“Because we’re local and because we like to see all of the clubs we work with succeed, we have been keeping a very close eye on everything that’s been going on with the Brummies in recent months.

“This year will be our tenth season involved working in Speedway and Birmingham were the first club we worked with as a team partner.

“Therefore at Curtis Sport, we feel honoured to be back on board for this exciting new era and we’d like to thank Laurence for building up this partnership and each of the new consortium members who have all shown a tremendous amount of dedication to keeping this great club on track.”

The Curtis Sport Brummies’ Press and Practice event will take place at Perry Barr Stadium next Wednesday afternoon (March 23).

Supporters will be able to watch their riders take to the much improved circuit from 1.30 with a bucket collection at the main gates.

They will then host a talk-in at the Aston Manor Cricket Club on the same evening with a minimum £1 donation to the Birmingham Speedway Supporters Club required to gain admission.

And the Brummies open their season with a Knockout Cup trip to Leicester on Saturday (March 26) before a Past and Present side head to Wolverhampton on March 28.

The first home action at Perry Barr will see the 2022 Curtis Sport Brummies face a Coventry Select side on Wednesday, March 30 (7.30).
