Solihull racer Delves secures another points finish

SOLIHULL racer Liam Delves rode to a strong 12th place in the penultimate round of the National Superstock 600 championship at Oulton Park to bring his points haul to seven after just two races in the series.

Weather conditions were mixed at the Cheshire circuit but the dire conditions didn’t deter Delves as he qualified well in 11th place and began his race from a fourth row grid position.

The spray was causing problems with vision for the midfield riders and Delves held back for the first few laps to let the field spread out before making a move forward.

The 18-year-old circulated in 15th position for much of the 12-lap affair but then passed Conor Wheeler and Aaron Clifford on lap nine.

With second placed rider Rory Skinner crashing out of the race Delves was elevated to 12th place and, too far away from the rider in 11th place, brought the Yamaha R6 home in a fine 12th place.

Delves said: “That’s my first wet race over and done with at Oulton Park on the Yamaha R6.

“I was really enjoying myself out there and that reflected in my lap times which were coming down on every lap.

“I can’t wait to get back out on the bike at Brands Hatch for the final round of the championship.”

The final round at Brands Hatch takes place from October 12 to October 14.
