FOOTBALL: LIAM McDonald’s Solihull Moors side will once again travel to Kirkby Road to kick-start the club’s pre-season campaign.
A pre-season friendly against Northern Premier League side Barwell has been arranged to take place on Monday, July 10, at 7.45pm.
Formed in 1992, Barwell – managed by Jimmy Ginnelly – has risen steadily from their early beginnings in the Midland Combination league.
The two clubs have a happy working relationship with Jo Ballinger – a regular in their side last season – and on loan Pearson Mwanyongo, who made an impression for the Canaries throughout the second half of their campaign.
Barwell also provided vital match experience last season to Romario Martin, Simeon Cobourne and Charlie Morris.
Last year’s match ended in a narrow one goal win for Moors in a game in which former coach Marcus Bignot fielded six trialists.
The game was sadly remembered for the injury to then club skipper Theo Streete, who played no further part in Moors’ campaign and eventually left the club after damaging his anterior cruciate ligament.
