IT PROVED to be a great start to the week for Solihull & Shirley Badminton Club after both the men’s and ladies’ side recorded comfortable away wins in the Birmingham League.
The men’s first team made it two wins out of two thanks to a comfortable 7-2 win at Birmingham University’s second string side.
While the women also took on Birmingham University Ladies’ second team and were victorious 5-1.
In the Solihull League, the men’s first team started off their season with a 5-1 victory over North Birmingham in the 1st division.
The ladies’ first team were up against some of the juniors in the top division and came away with a 6-0 win although three of the rubbers went to three.
Last year’s junior team have moved up to the adult divisions and had a some close games against Badminton Bears’ second team in the men’s fourth division but unfortunately they came away with a 5-1 loss.
