SOLIHULL Junior Barons under-18s have secured a league title for the club after winning the EIHA U18 North 3 crown.

The title was won with two games to spare, following a 6-3 victory away in Nottingham, before the Barons finished their season with a 7-5 loss to Blackburn and a 6-0 win over Nottingham.

Barons finished their campaign with 12 wins, a single draw and three losses from their 16 matches played, but despite having the best offensive and defensive stats in the league – they also racked up the most penalty minutes.

Head coach Lee Trueman, a former senior player with the Barons in the 80s and 90s, has been on the coaching staff for the juniors for six years, and has overseen the development of a number of players during that time.

“It has been a pleasure working with our dedicated U18s this season, their hard work has secured them the leagues winners title this year – a proud moment for me as their Head Coach.

“The Team led by captain Thomas Goode this season will now continue to develop and go from strength to strength.

“Congratulations to the whole team for their spirit and determination, it’s a huge success for Solihull Barons Junior Ice Hockey Club.”

The team will be presented with the league trophy by an EIHA official at the clubs annual presentation evening on June 15, and can now look forward to testing themselves against tougher opposition next season.
