Showmen Smolinski and Skornicki to appear in Brummies challenge fixture against Coventry

SPEEDWAY: SHOWMEN Martin Smolinski and Adam Skornicki will grace the Perry Barr circuit once again in Tony Mole’s Farewell meeting next week.

The popular duo have made themselves available for Birmingham’s home clash with rivals Coventry on Wednesday, October 11.

Smolinski, who has competed in this season’s FIM Speedway Grand Prix Series, remains a huge hit with fans of both clubs due to his entertaining racing style and character during his time spent in the Midlands.

Meanwhile, Skornicki enjoyed a fine few months with the Brummies in 2014 before sustaining a nasty hip injury.

Club boss Graham Drury feels it is a real coup to have them in Tony Mole’s Farewell and believes the news will go down well with fans of both clubs.

“We asked our supporters on social media last week who they would like to see in the final meeting if we could sort it,” Drury explained.

“Martin was one of the riders who stood out a mile while Adam also got a lot of mentions.

“I didn’t think we’d got much chance of getting them to be honest, but full credit to both for making themselves available.

“Both were really appreciative of what Birmingham Speedway and myself and Tony Mole have done for them and both wanted to be a part of Tony’s last meeting.

“In my opinion they are two of modern day speedway’s great entertainers and we’ll be delighted to see them back gracing the Perry Barr again next week.

“Another name that stood out when fans entered their suggestions was Danny King.

“Kingy was really up for doing it – then realised it clashes with a Leicester commitment and he is gutted he has to miss the meeting, as are we.

“But Martin and Adam are two more big names to add to what is already a very exciting line-up.”

Smolinski and Skornicki join Adam Ellis, Ben Barker, Adam Roynon and new U.S National Champion Broc Nicol as confirmed starters.
