Moors strengthen with loan signing of Burton midfielder Sbarra

SOLIHULL Moors have strengthened their side ahead of the trip to Boreham Wood with the loan signing of Burton Albion midfielder Joe Sbarra.

Sbarra, who has featured 16 times in all this season for the League 1 Brewers, has plenty of experience in the Football League at the age of 20, having also appeared 17 times in the Championship last season.

The loan deal will run until April 28th, but will automatically be extended to cover the play-offs should Solihull reach them.

His last appearance came from the bench in February’s 1-0 defeat to Fleetwood Town, and comes as Sbarra’s first move away from the club.

Speaking on the Lichfield-born midfielder’s signing, assistant manager Gary Whild believes he can contribute enormously to Moors’ end-of-season run-in.

“He’s different to what we’ve got in terms of being a bit like Ozzy (Jamey Osborne).

“He can change a game, he’s got a goal in him. He’s played a few games in League One and he’s someone we’ve identified that is local.

“He understands where we are as a club and the style in this division and the intensity of it. He can cover a few different positions.”

Sbarra will be eligible for Tuesday night’s trip to Boreham Wood, and will wear the number 27 shirt during his time at The Automated Technology Group Stadium.
