JODIE Alderson-Smith starred as Solihull Vixens eased to a 5-1 win against basement club Bristol Huskies in the first meeting between the two clubs.
Alderson-Smith scored twice with further goals from Grace Garbett, Saffron Allen and Katie Henry in a comfortable victory at Planet Ice Bristol.
The result means Solihull lead the Women’s National Ice Hockey Elite League by five points with nine games left to play.
Vixens were playing at the Planet Ice Bristol rink for the first time and took the lead after just one minute when Garbett found the net.
However, Solihull were left frustrated as Gemma Davies in the Bristol net kept Vixens out for the rest of the first period with a terrific performance between the sticks.
Solihull doubled their lead when Alderson-Smith scored on 23 minutes before Allen added a quickfire third and the firmer scored her second of the game just past the half hour mark to take the game out of Bristol’s reach.
Bristol scored their only goal on the powerplay as Henry completed the scoring late on to add some gloss to the scoreline with the Huskies yet to register a point in the league following promotion last season.
Vixens play Bristol away in their next outing on Sunday, February 26 with the face-off at 4.30pm at Planet Ice Bristol.
