Solihull Editorial 6th May, 2022   0

SOLIHULL Vixens won their first Women’s Elite League title after a 6-4 win against Kingston Diamonds in their final home game of the season.

Vixens secured the title with three games left to play and were forced to come from behind to take the points against Kingston after a scoreless first period.

However, goals from Saffron Allen and Jodie Bloom turned the game in Solihull’s favour as the Vixens led 2-1 at the end of the second period.

A frantic end-to-end battle ensued in the third period as Solihull struck four further goals through Bloom, Ila Hobbins, Grace Garbett and Sarah Hutchinson to clinch a 6-4 victory as the final buzzer sounded with Peyton Fincher the player of the game.

Solihull now have three games to cement their place at the top of the table, having won 16 of their 17 league matches this season to lead second-placed Queen Bees by 13 points.

The Vixens travel to Widnes on the weekend of June 4 and 5 for the play-offs.
