FORMER Birmingham City Ladies midfielder Emily Simpkins has become the first ever player to sign a full-time professional deal with Doncaster Rovers Belles.

Simpkins moved to the Belles from Birmingham mid-way through the 2015 season after seeing her first team opportunities limited.

She made an immediate impact at her new club by scoring twice in the Continental Tyres Cup victory over Durham and quickly became an integral part of the side which won promotion to the Women’s Super League.

“I am extremely proud to have signed a new deal at the Belles,” said Simpkins.

“As soon as I heard Doncaster were interested in signing me full time I was delighted to take the opportunity and would like to thank the management for this.

“I have experienced WSL1 and I’m fully aware of how demanding it is going to be for us next season and I’m ready for that challenge which the club have so rightly deserved.

“It’s an exciting time for everyone at the club, which has great ambition along with a fantastic force of people driving it forward and I’m proud and grateful to be a part of that.”
