FOOTBALL - Moors held by Brackley in latest pre-season outing

Solihull Editorial 19th Jul, 2022   0

SOLIHULL Moors were held to a 1-1 draw by National League North side Brackley Town in their latest pre-season outing.

Moors took the lead after a bright start on 14 minutes when a trademark Ryan Bennett cross from the right was headed in by Trialist C.

And Bennett almost grabbed a goal for himself when he was picked out by Sbarra only to see his effort trickle past the post.

On-loan goalkeeper Louie Moulden made a sensational reflex save to keep Moors ahead when he tipped Callum Stead’s effort onto the post and away to safety

And Solihull should have doubled their lead at the other end when Alex Reid connected with Sbarra’s cross only to divert the ball wide of the target.

Brackley made Moors pay for those missed chances when Jordan Cullinane-Liburd bundled the ball home from close range at a corner shortly before half time.

Neal Ardley introduced Alex Gudger, Callum Maycock and Jamey Osborne at half time with more changes made on the hour mark.

The likes of Jack Myatt, Leo Wood, Morgan Owen, Callum Scott and Zion Nisbett were all introduced to once again highlight the strength of Moors elite academy.

Chances were at a premium in the second period as Myatt did well to recover from a loose clearance and hold onto a shot from the edge of the area.

Moors are next in action against Birmingham City in the Arthur Cup TONIGHT (Tuesday, July 19) with kick-off at 7pm at the ARMCO Arena.
