KNOWLE FC suffered a 4-2 home defeat against Wake Green in their latest pre-season friendly having initially fought back from a two-goal deficit.

The Robins came from two goals down in the first half against the newly-promoted Midland Football League Division Three side only to once again fall behind in the second period at the Draintech Stadium.

And Wake Green’s squad was packed with experience and physical presence which they used to their advantage to take the lead around the half-hour mark.

Knowle were appealing for a foul on their defender when Wake Green slammed the ball home from 18-yards out to open the scoring.

And the visitors struck again three minutes later when Knowle failed to deal with a long ball down the left side of their defence as a cross was headed in from close range.

However, the Robins produced an immediate response when Ash Weeks headed home from a corner just one minute later.

And the game was made all square at half time when Zak Parsons drilled home a shot from 18-yards out on 43 minutes.

Wake Green restored their lead on the hour mark with a tremendous strike from distance that flew into the net as Knowle struggled to deal with Wake Green’s physicality.

And the visitors sealed the win with the last kick of the game when a free-kick found the back of Knowle’s net to condemn the Robins to defeat.

Knowle travel to Feckenham on Saturday, July 23 with kick-off at 2pm at Mill Lane.
