KNOWLE Ladies advanced to the quarter-finals of the League Cup with a resounding 4-0 win against Kingfisher.

Robyn Bamber, Jess Barlow, Alice Belcher and Michelle McCormack were all on target for the Robins who comfortably secured their place in the last eight.

The game began at a frantic pace before Knowle dictated the tempo and took the lead through Bamber when she slotted home a loose ball to score her first goal for the club after Barlow’s attempt was charged down by the Kingfisher keeper.

It marked a special moment for the young forward who missed 18 months of action with an ACL injury with the goal coming after Emma Shaw had hit the post.

And Barlow then doubled Knowle’s lead when she clipped an effort past the keeper after latching onto McCormack’s pass.

Knowle could have extended their lead before the break with Demi Rolph going close with a free-kick before Belcher blazed a good opportunity over the bar.

The Robins went in search of a third goal in the second period and almost found it when Rolph hit the crossbar before Kingfisher nearly halved the deficit after a chaotic goalmouth scramble occurred in the Knowle box.

However, the home side eventually trebled their lead on 70 minutes when Belcher thumped a header into the net from Shaw’s dangerous corner.

And Shaw provided another fine cross for McCormack to head in at the back post to complete the scoring with the latter crashing into the upright herself.

Knowle are next in action at home to Sedgley and Gornal United Women on Sunday, April 3 with kick-off at 2pm at the Robins’ Nest.
