FOOTBALL - Knowle come from behind to topple Earlswood in 'Solihull derby'

KNOWLE FC came from behind to win 4-1 against local rivals Earlswood Town in the ‘Solihull derby’ to extend their unbeaten run to 12 matches.

Jordan McKenzie fired the Earls into the lead on 10 minutes only for Knowle to blitz their opponents with four second-half goals at the Draintech Community Ground.

Charlie Morris, Lewis Cosgrove, Tom Cullen and debutant Peter Bailey all struck for the home side to secure a fourth successive win.

The result means Knowle remain second in the Midland Football League Division Two table whilst Earlswood are down in 10th.

However, the visitors defied the league standings to lead at the break when McKenzie rounded the Knowle goalkeeper before tapping home.

Knowle responded on 47 minutes when Morris finished from close range after a goalmouth scramble.

And the Robins took the lead just past the hour mark when Cosgrove headed home from a corner after Earls keeper Dan Farr had made a superb save.

Knowle struck again on 80 minutes when Cullen drilled an effort past Farr from the edge of the penalty area.

And the scoring was complete when Bailey netted on his debut in the final minute.

Next up for Knowle is a home game against fellow high-flyers Fairfield Villa on Saturday, December 18 with kick-off at 2pm.

Elsewhere, Earlswood are next in action against ground tenants Barnt Green Spartak on Monday, December 27 with kick-off at 2pm at the Pavilions.
