EARLSWOOD TOWN suffered their third straight defeat after Barnt Green Spartak produced an extraordinary late comeback to win 4-3 in a seven-goal thriller.

The Earls led on three separate occasions through Ryan Froggatt, Jordan McKenzie and Andy Matthews only to throw away the points in the final few minutes.

And the result leaves Earlswood in 11th place in the Midland Football League Division Two table, five points clear of safety.

The Solihull club made the perfect start when Froggatt put them ahead on 12 minutes with a cool header back across goal from John Palmer’s floated free-kick .

However, a combination of Froggatt and Palmer then deflected the ball into their own net just two minutes later, as the ball ricocheted off the latter to send the teams into the break level.

And the Earls restored their lead early in the second half when McKenzie rifled into an empty net after he latched on to Palmer’s flick.

Barnt Green once again drew level when Rene Adigbo scored a superb solo goal only for Matthews to put Earlswood ahead for a third time.

However, Mark Steele equalised for Spartak with a low volley on 86 minutes before the same player headed home from a corner at the back post to snatch the points.

Earlswood have a weekend off before returning to action against Kenilworth Sporting on Saturday, March 19 with kick-off at 3pm at the Pavilions.
