Earlswwod make their point at Austrey Ranger

EARLSWOOD Town came away from Austrey Rangers with a deserved point following their 1-1 draw in the Midland League Division Two.

The visitors went on the attack right from the off and after two minutes the home team can count themselves fortunate not to have gone a goal behind when a defender deflected an Earlswood shot on to the Austrey post which was scrambled away.

Two minutes later Danny Wallace beat two defenders on the right before putting the ball over to the unmarked Matt Seeley whose header just cleared the bar.

In the 21st minute Earlswood should have taken the lead when a forward was set up by Jon Farley but the home keeper somehow manged to get his foot to the shot and deflect the ball away saving a certain goal.

But it was the visitors who took a 1-0 lead in at the break after scoring a shot just after the half-hour mark.

Austrey went on to the attack early in the second half and set themselves up with an open goal in the 53rd minute only to shoot wide.

After 64 minutes the Earlswood management team made changes with Adam Wormall coming on and Zac Cogger moved up front and the move instantly paid off.

Cogger equalised for Earlswood with a thunderous shot into the top right hand corner of the home team’s net.

Neither side made another breakthrough and Earlswood would have been pleased to have picked up a point.
