DORRIDGE’S recent struggles continued with an eight-wicket loss at the hands of West Bromwich Dartmouth in Birmingham & District Premier Division One.

After being dismissed for 149 in the 38th over, with David Ball’s 39 being the top-scoring batsman for the hosts, West Bromwich proceeded to romp to victory thanks to the 124-run partnership of Zen Malik (55) and Aaron Thomason (61).

Being put into bat after the visitors won the toss, Dorridge loss two early wickets at 4-2, before Aarib Khan (17) and Edward Thompson (19) helped their side’s cause.

Ball and Mark Swanick (9) formed a middle order partnership of 45 runs, whilst James Ayres (3) and Fahad Sabir (22 n.o) hit a last-wicket partnership of 31 to leave Dorridge on 149.

West Bromwich were on 26-2 after Patrick James took two catches from Patrick Brown’s bowling, but the emphatic pairing of Malik and Thomason won it for the away side after 175 balls faced.

Dorridge hope to end a four-match winless streak at Grange Road on Saturday (12 noon), when facing Kenilworth Wardens.
