Darren Smith wins English title

SHIRLEY Tae Kwon-Do Club is celebrating the achievements of its latest rising star after Darren Smith won the English title.

Smith recently added the English title to the British title he won last year at the Worcester Arena with over 1,500 competitors taking part, all of which were hoping to become champions in their own respective divisions.

Smith trains under the expert guidance of international instructor and three-times World Champion Steve Merricks who said it was a great achievement.

“Darren has been outstanding over the last year or so taking honours at every national tournament.” said Merricks.

“He is an excellent student who trains hard in all aspect of her Tae Kwon Do training and gives 110 per cent every session. He thoroughly deserves his success and long may it continue.

Further success went to Sunny Jagatia and Paul Brunn who took Silver and Jaymal Jagatia and Turkay Hasan won Bronze.

Shirley Tae kwon-Do will be holding a free open training sessions for all ages for anyone who would like to come along and see what Tae Kwon-Do is all about.
