KNOWLE and Dorridge CC suffered a five-wicket defeat away at Kenilworth Wardens as Henry Cullen’s magnificent 140 not out condemned the Solihull club to back-to-back losses.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat and made a promising start as, after Hamza Shaikh’s dismissal for 12, Alex Phillips (47) and Ethan Brookes (46) took K and D to 106-2.

However, both batters fell just short of a half-century as Henry Brookes (5), James Middleton (8) and Jacob Lintott (8) all came and went without reaching double figures.

After stuttering to 135-6, late surges from Amir Khan (31), George Maddy (26) and Jack Grundy (22 not out) saw K and D end their innings on 220-8.

K and D made a great start with the ball to restrict the home side to 50-3 as Henry Brookes (1-44) bowled Jacob Bethell (12).

And Jack Grundy (2-47) then took two quick wickets to remove Ali Zaryab (2) and Harry Johnson for a duck.

However, Kenilworth opener Cullen began to score more freely to take the home side to 128-4 and was supported at the crease by Reeve Evitts (27).

Another quick double from Jacob Lintott (2-68) saw Wardens reach 137-5 only for Andrew Leering (31 not out) to help steer the hosts to victory, along with Cullen who hit 22 boundaries, in 45.5 overs.

Elsewhere, the club’s second XI lost by eight runs against Hampton and Solihull whilst the third XI secured a winning draw at Thimblemill and the fourth XI claimed an impressive 93-run win against Weoley Hill .
