Convincing away win for Blossomfield against West Brom

HOCKEY: BLOSSOMFIELD earned a convincing win against West Bromwich Mens away from home.

It wasn’t all plain sailing for Blossomfield though as their Birmingham rivals took the early lead when a series of defensive errors allowed West Brom to take the lead.

However the blip that cost Bloss the win when they last played West Brom was not going to repeat itself.

As the half progressed, a sense of composure descended and Bloss were not only playing more freely but also scoring.

As the match moved into the second half the score was building in favour of the away team and by the final whistle Solihull Blossomfield ran out comfortable winners.

The result means that Solihull Blossomfield maintain their quest to win the league.

Meanwhile the club’s second team had to settle for a draw against West Brom Mens 2s.

Bloss started off as the better team and should’ve took the lead on several occasions, only to be denied by heroics from the West Brom keeper.

West Brom made the most of their few chances to take the lead before a pair of chances presented themselves to Owen Mansell, who missed both.

Andy Rice levelled the game shortly into the second half as the game ended level, much to the frustration of a well organised Bloss side.
