TEENAGER Cameron Biddle just missed out on a top-ten spot after racing against more than 100 riders from across the globe in the Junior Tour of Wales.

The 17-year-old, from Alvechurch, who rides for Solihull Cycling Club, was among riders from as far afield as Australia, the USA and Uzbekistan taking part in the prestigious event involving five stages over 179 miles on some of the best racing roads in the UK.

He quickly moved up the rankings as the race stages progressed from 69th on the first day to 27th by the end of the second day.

The last stage ended on the notorious Tumble Mountain and, as Cameron likes hills, the stage he was most looking forward to. He fought really hard and finished eighth on the stage which meant his overall finishing position was an amazing 11th.

He hopes to compete in it again next year and hopefully, as a second year junior rider, improve on his result.
