BOXING - Solihull fighter becomes England Boxing National Amateur champion

SOLIHULL’s Elise Glynn was crowned the -57kg women’s England Boxing National Amateur Champion with a unanimous decision win in the final.

Glynn, from Hockley Heath, beat Keeley Austerfield (British Army) in the final representing West Warwicks Boxing Club at Manchester Central.

And teammate Jerry-Lee Palmer came agonisingly close to completing a double for the Solihull club only to lose a split decision in the -75kg final to Demi Carter (Churchill’s).

Both fighters have earned themselves a GB Boxing assessment and have their sights firmly fixed on representing England in their hometown at the 2022 Commonwealth Games this summer.

Glynn said: “I’m ecstatic to have come this far. I couldn’t have done it without West Warwicks ABC for making me believe in myself again and pushing me to my limits in training camp.”

The National Amateur Championships is the oldest and most prestigious boxing tournament in the country.
