THE WORLD Cup journey is well under way for Birmingham City Ladies starts Jo Potter, Karen Carney and Jade Moore after they flew out with the England squad for this summer’s tournament in Canada.

The Lionesses landed in Toronto on Monday evening ahead of their final warm-up match against the host nation tomorrow (Friday).

England begin their World Cup campaign against France next Tuesday in Moncton before taking on Mexico in the same city on Saturday June 13 and ending their group stage with a clash against Colombia in Montreal on June 17.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, 24-year-old Jade Moore said: “It’s about going out there and doing something we haven’t done before.

“Another quarter final in a World Cup would be a big statement but anything past that would be a huge achievement.

“We’re all going out there to win it but we want to make sure we get out of the group and push on.

“Our group’s a tough group and each team poses a different challenge, which will only help us.

“Once you get through the group, there’s a little relief, then you start to push on as a team and use the momentum to see how far you can get.”
