Bears extend unbeaten run

BEARS extended their unbeaten run this season to five games thanks to a 51-29 win against Hereward in Henley-in-Arden on Sunday.

The hosts began the match in a determined mood and stamped their authority by ending the first quarter with a 16-5 lead.

With a comfortable lead established, the Bears gave match time to some of the newer members of their squad with both Sharleen Honey and Andy Stow grabbing their opportunity to impress by scoring a pair of baskets each to push the hosts 30-13 in front by half-time.

With the game virtually won Bears coach Tom Masterson took the opportunity to look at his newer players and mixed his formation.

Again he was not disappointed with both Susie Fox and Liz Grinnell both getting on the scoresheet, whilst also holding their own in defence.

The end of the third quarter saw the Bears extend their kead further to 42-12 and when the full-time whistle blew that lead was extended further to 51-29.

“I’m really pleased that every player on the team sheet also got on the score sheet today,” said coach Masterson.

“It’s always good to get everyone on court and give them game time as it will only make the squad stronger.”

The Bears are next in action when they travel to Essex Outlaws on December 14.
