BIRMINGHAM City Ladies will continue to play without any fear, insists defender Aoife Mannion after booking their place in the final of the Continental Tyres Cup thanks to a convincing 4-0 victory on the road at London Bees.

Kirsty Linnett handed David Parker’s side a narrow one-goal lead at half-time on Saturday but further strikes after the break Kerys Harrop and Charlie Wellings, as well as an own goal, set up a mouth-watering final against Women’s Super League leaders Manchester City Women.

The Bees put up a brave fight against a strong Blues ladies line-up as Parker’s side go in search of their first piece of silverware since winning the Women’s FA Cup back in May 2012.

“We’re so, so happy with that, we’re absolutely buzzing,” said Mannion. “I think scoreline was a fair reflection of the game because we executed our game plan to perfection.

“They (London Bees) are a team that have turned over the WSL champions and deserve a huge amount of credit for what they have done.

“And credit to them, they put and extra player up top and it was really difficult to defend against them and they battled all over the pitch and it was a grind to take control.

“It’s a reflection of all of our hard work in the cup and we are just so thrilled to be able to celebrate this with the fans who turned up in huge numbers.

“We’re really excited for the final, It will be a really tough game.

“But one thing for sure though is that we’ll keep fighting and show the passion which has got us to the final.”

The final will be played at the Manchester City Academy Stadium on October 2.
