THE UNION Theatre have “lost” the equivalent of two cast members from their production of Peter Pan thanks to the group’s dramatic weightloss.

Over the last eight months the cast have lost a total of 26 stone with the show’sTinkerbell, Kate Gilbert flying particularly high after shedding eight stone.

Kate said: “We are all feeling the benefits in rehearsal and some of us are even volunteering now to take centre stage in some of the dances.

“My weight had crept up over the last few years but with the support of other group members we are all doing really well.”

Husband and wife team Gordon and Jackie Justham were spurred on by other members losing weight and have lost six stone between them.

Rosemary Worsley and Jamie Moore have both lost just over three stone each and Ness Campbell-Kelly has lost over four stone.

The show’s director Mark Firmstone has been amazed with the collective willpower of the group.

“They have all done so well, and I am so proud of them all.” he said.

“We do joke and say that we have lost two cast members because of the amount of weight they have lost between them.” he added.

Peter Pan – A British Musical by Piers Chater-Robinson – will be taking place from December 4 to 6 at Christchurch URC in Solihull.

Tickets are available online from www.uniontheatresolihull.co.uk or by calling 0121 704 4867.
