A TEENAGE girl was fighting for her life and three other people were hurt when a car smashed into a tree.

The 14-year-old suffered serious head, chest and leg injuries when the vehicle veered off the carriageway in Stratford Road, near the junction of Highfield Road in Hall Green, at about 1.30am on Monday (July 27).

An ambulance found the crash as its crew returned to their base.

She was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Major Trauma Unit for further emergency treatment.

A 19-year-old girl also suffered multiple injuries while the teenage driver and a woman in her 40s suffered minor injuries.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “An ambulance came across the RTC on the way back to station and immediately requested back up to the scene.

“Ambulance crews worked seamlessly with other emergency service staff at the scene to ensure the patients received the best treatment as quickly and safely as possible.”
