AN English teacher at The Sixth Form College is celebrating the publication of her second novel.

‘The End of Law’ by teacher and curriculum leader for English, Therese Down, is set in 1933 Berlin and tells the story of Adolf Hitler’s rise to power,

The plot centres around SS Officers Walter Gunther and Karl Muller and the Nazi T4 euthanasia programme, which aims to kill ‘unworthies’ – not just Jews, but crippled children, the mentally ill and homosexuals.

Walter and Karl are forced to confront their convictions when the fate of their families proves at stake.

Therese said she was ‘thrilled’ publishers Lion Hudson offered her a two novel contract after her first novel ‘Only with Blood’ proved a hit with readers.

She added: “The details of Hitler’s T4 euthanasia programme are not common knowledge to the extent the holocaust is, but are just as terrifying.

“I wanted to explore the effects on a nation and particularly the programme perpetrators, of such an institutionalised manifestation of evil.”

‘The End of Law’ is published by Lion Hudson Publishers and is available from Amazon and a variety of other outlets.
