SOLIHULL artist Catherine Holland is to feature paintings of local borough views in her next exhibition at Purple Gallery in Mary Vale Road, Bournville.
Running from Saturday, May 7 until June 30 the gallery will feature six of Catherine’s pieces inspired by her trips around Solihull.
“Working full time as an artist now and it’s becoming viable,” said Catherine, who has won commissions as well as selling her work.
“My technique has been changing too with how I use colour.
“I’m now using a particular kind of pastel which you don’t have to get wet to blend in and it’s really pleasing.
“In means I can get a lot of light and several layers onto my work creating greater depth.”
Catherine was working in a bike shop in Birmingham before the pandemic.
She would pedal off into the countryside around Solihull to find inspiration for her work.
Now she’s devoting herself full time to her art and the results are beginning to pay off.
