A SOLIHULL mother has been fined £804 for her child’s unauthorised absences from a Chelmsley Wood primary school.

She was sentenced at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Monday, January 11 after her child failed to attend Fordbridge Community Primary School for 33 sessions between April and July 2015.

The defendant had pleaded ‘not guilty’ but failed to attend the trial, meaning magistrates heard evidence in her absence before delivering a ‘guilty’ verdict.

The woman was fined £440 and ordered to pay Solihull Council’s costs of £320 as well as a victim surcharge of £44, bringing the total fine to £804.
