Solihull landscape artist holds her first solo exhibition tomorrow

Solihull Editorial 9th Jul, 2022   0

AN EXHIBITION of work by Solihull professional landscape artist Catherine Holland will be coming to Barston Memorial Hall on Sunday, July 9.

The event is Catherine’s first-ever solo show and the work is all original.

The art depicts the local area, with all pieces in the exhibition up for sale.

Catherine works in Sennelier Oil Pastels and aims to show detail in every area of the picture so that the viewer can decide which area they wish to look at carefully.

She comes from a family of artists with her grandfather an award-winning portrait artist, and her godmother taught her how to paint with oils aged ten.

She discovered oil pastels after travelling to Montelimar in France.

Catherine likes making strokes with one colour before overlaying and revealing it by scraping off the top layer to create lighter detail underneath- so she is essentially ‘drawing’ with oils.

The exhibition will be starting at 11am and will last for five hours.

Catherine said that this is the most exciting thing she has done so far in her art career and hopes that people turn up to see her work.
