Solihull hospital welcomes RAF veteran to staff

SPIRE Parkway private hospital has just announced RAF nursing officer Patrick (Paddy) Jones as its new theatre manager.

During his 19 years with the RAF Patrick has served three times in both Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as working in many NHS hospitals treating members of the Armed Forces.

Among his RAF medical duties Patrick was often the nursing officer flying back to the UK with soldiers that were injured abroad.

Married to Rebecca, the couple have a 20-year-old daughter and two teenage sons and now live in Bromsgrove, following postings around the UK and abroad.

On his move to Spire Parkway he said: “I have had some fantastic times in the RAF but we just thought it was about time to put down roots.

“Spire Parkway is a hospital on the up with a lot of new developments including a new theatre.

“I see this not only as exciting and a great opportunity but one which also keeps me in a high-pressure medical position.

“Admittedly there are a lot of differences compared to a field hospital in a war zone but there are also many new challenges that I am looking forward to tackling.”
