DEDICATED Solihull Hospital volunteers have been handed top awards for their years of service at a special ceremony.

Carolyn Corfield celebrated 25 years of service at the Lode Lane hospital when she was given a certificate and a pin badge from Dame Julie Moore, interim chief executive and Jacqui Smith, interim chair at Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust (HEFT) which runs Solihull, Heartlands and Good Hope Hospital.

Jean Everton and Barbara Gotch were also honoured for their ten years of service at Solihull Hospital.

The Solihull trio was among dozens honoured at the Long Service Awards. Each one was thanked personally by Julie and Jacqui and photographed.

Special recognition was given to Cecily Gilbert, BEM (British Empire Medal), who has volunteered for the library service for over 50 years after it was started by her mother after the Second World War.

Emma Hale, head of volunteer services, said: “This is the first time we have held a recognition event for all of our volunteers and I am delighted that we were able to thank them for all their hard work.

“They dedicate so much of their time to supporting our Trust work and make a huge difference to our service.”
