THERE was jubilation among residents in Lugtrout Lane this week after a developer had its appeal to overturn a temporary Tree Preservation Order (TPO) thrown out.
We reported back in July the TPO had been granted but the landowner had six months to lodge an appeal which has now been rejected.
Patricia Jones, who led the campaign to save the family of trees and chained herself to one of them during the battle, said: “It was devastating when we found out they just wanted to come along without a care and build on the land.
“Everyone here is so happy now – it was a long fight but well worth it.
“The trees have been there for more than 100 years and its good to know they will now be staying for many more years to come.
“We can’t wait to see them flourish in the spring and summer.
Patricia wants to thank everyone who supported the campaign and the petition, including Coun Peter Hogarth and the Damson Wood and Solihull communities.
