FOUNTAINS care home in Solihull celebrated resident Florence Taylor’s 101st birthday in style last Monday by asking people on social media to send in 101 cards for her special day.

Florence was the first resident to move into Fountains when it opened in 2019 and turned 100 while living there.

The home’s Facebook post reached across Britain and resulted in Florence receiving 156 cards to open on her birthday, with many more still arriving.

Florence celebrated her birthday surrounded by family and friends with plenty of live entertainment and the birthday girl was treated to her favourite cake, which was baked by the home’s kitchen team.

General Manager, Arvinder Basra, said: “We have had a fantastic day celebrating Florence’s 101st birthday, it really was a joyous occasion for all. Thank you so much to everybody who sent in a card for Flor, it really was very much appreciated.’’
