Silhillians urged to have say on Knowle, Dorridge and Bentley Heath draft neighbourhood plan

RESIDENTS in Knowle, Dorridge and Bentley Heath are being invited to have their say on the draft neighbourhood plan for the area.

The plans, which have been drawn up from two years of research by the Knowle, Dorridge and Bentley Heath Forum, will go on show at Arden Academy on Station Road on November 25 from 10am until 2pm.

According to the Forum Knowle, Dorridge and Bentley Heath are already experiencing growing pains with the rate of recent development – health, education, parking, transport and infrastructure are all under pressure.

In the latest draft of Solihull’s Local Development Plan, the council are proposing around 1050 extra houses in Knowle, all on Greenbelt land.

These villages have decided to take what control they can through the creation of the Neighbourhood Plan.

The Neighbourhood Plan is a new legislative power given to communities to have more say about priorities and needs in their area.

It gives local people the opportunity to try to protect what they value most highly and to manage growth, so that it integrates well and maximises benefit to the whole community.
