STAFF and residents at Fountains care homes in Shirley, Solihull, raised a cuppa and held an afternoon tea dance to celebrate The Queen’s 95th birthday.

The 84th birthday of resident Gloria was also toasted as part of the celebrations which also marked National Tea Day.

Head chef Colin Buss whipped up a tasty selection of freshly-baked scones with clotted cream and jam, a selection of finger sandwiches and home-made cream cakes for the occasion.

They were all washed down with a selection of teas.

Residents took part in royal themed sessions including virtual tours of Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle, watching old clips of royal tours and occasions whilst reminiscing about The Queen’s reign.

Birthday girl Gloria was accompanied by her dancing partner John as the pair put on a performance on the day.

General manager Sonia Tenniswood said it was a great excuse for tea and a natter.

“It was also a lovely way to say thank you to our longest reigning monarch and wish Gloria a happy birthday”
