THE SHIRLEY Brass Band is tuning up ahead of its first live performance since the start of the pandemic.

The 28-strong brass band, which last performed at the theatre to a sell-out concert in January 2020, will perform Music from the Silver Screen on September 18 at The Dovehouse Theatre.

From 7pm until 9pm music including Imperial March from Star Wars, Superman, Schindler’s List, Jurassic Park and The Liberty Bell will fill the Kineton Green Road theatre.

The band will be conducted by its professional conductor, Tom Stoneman, who has a Masters in Music from The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

Sally Middleton, Shirley Band’s Concert Secretary, said: “We can’t wait to perform again at The Dovehouse Theatre, a venue which in recent years, has seen us perform to several sell out shows.

“Excitingly, it will be the first time the band has performed to an audience since the earth fell silent in March 2020 as a result of the Covid pandemic.”

The band regularly performs across the West Midlands and for the past few years has performed in numerous sell out shows at the theatre.

Doors will open at 6.30pm and seating is first come, first served.

Tickets are priced £8.50 for adults and £7 for concessions and are available online at www.ticketsource.co.uk/shirleyband or call 0772 5551374.

Subject to availability, they will also be available on the door.
