Solihull Editorial 13th May, 2022

A MOTORCYCLST has died after hitting a bus stop pole in Widney Road, Bentley Heath, Solihull, around 6.30pm yesterday evening.

Two ambulances, two paramedics officers, the West Midlands CARE Team and a BASICS doctor attended.

An off-duty police officer and a doctor also came across the incident and stopped to render aid.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “When ambulance staff arrived they found bystanders performing CPR and using a community public accessible defibrillator on a motorcyclist, a man, who was in a critical condition.

“The team of ambulance staff quickly took over treatment and commenced advanced life support on scene.”

She added unfortunately nothing could be done to save the rider, a man in his 20s, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed off near the junction of Tilehouse Lane,as initial investigations were carried out and it was reopened shortly after 1am this morning.

Acting Det Sgt Chris Ridge, from the West Midlands Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts today are with the family of the motorbike rider who has sadly lost his life.

“We’re in the early stages of the investigation to establish exactly what happened and officers have already spoken with a number of people at the scene.

“We’d also appeal for any witnesses who we’ve not yet spoken with, or any drivers who were in the area and have dashcam footage, to get in contact.”

Witnesses or anyone with information should contact the police via Live Chat at or by calling 101.
