Physios' 50k challenge raises bumper sum for hospitals charity

Solihull Editorial 21st Feb, 2022   0

THE Urban Body team from Solihull, together with some of their clients, have raised £1,580 for four local hospitals by walking or running 50 kilometres each in January.

The group took on the challenge in aid of the University Hospitals Birmingham Charity, which supports patients, families and NHS staff at the Queen Elizabeth, Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull hospitals.

People can still donate via the 50k challenge’s JustGiving page.

During the current pandemic donations are helping to deliver care packs to nurses, provide staff with psychological and emotional support, helping patients to stay in contact with their families by providing tablets with video conferencing apps, and much more.

Urban Body’s lead physiotherapist, Phil Evans, said: “These are still challenging days for the NHS so it’s the perfect time to support your local hospitals.

“We’re glad to have made a contribution.

“People are more reluctant to get moving during winter but we always encourage everyone to stay active whatever the weather, it’s another way of helping the NHS in the long run!”

The Urban Body clinic is based at the West Warwickshire Sports Club in Olton, offering free assessments to new patients.

Staff have worked with Team GB athletes, Leicestershire Country Cricket Club and Loughborough University Physiotherapy.
