Pair arrested in Sparkbrook on suspicion of Syria related terrorism offences

TWO people have been arrested in Sparkbrook this morning (Thursday, September 3) on suspicion of terrorism offences relating to Syria.

The pair were detained by officers from the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit around 7.30am this morning.

The 38-year-old man and 31-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of preparation for Acts of Terrorism.

The arrests were pre-planned and intelligence-led and there was no immediate threat to public safety.
