Man dies after being hit by car on Stratford Road in Shirley

A PEDESTRIAN has died after being hit by a car on Stratford Road in Shirley.

It is believed the man, aged 70, was crossing the road when he was struck by a silver VW Passat at around 5pm on Sunday (December 2).

He was taken to hospital but died shortly afterwards.

Police say the driver stopped at the scene to help with enquiries.




Stratford Road at the junction of Church Road was initially closed following the accident.

West Midlands Police is urging anyone who saw what happened to come forward.


Sergeant Alan Wood from the Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Stratford Road is a busy stretch of road, I would urge anyone who saw the collision to get in touch.

“Our thoughts are with the man’s family at this time.”
