LOOK: Grand opening sees NEC's Resorts World open for business

THE LONG-AWAITED grand opening of Resorts World Birmingham, the £150m leisure and entertainment resort located at the NEC, took place yesterday (Wednesday).

The opening of the majority of the retail sector was the first phase of the resort coming to life over the next few weeks which will include the grand opening of the casino, bars and restaurants on October 26 and the opening of the Cineworld cinema on October 23.

There are now just five retail units and one food and beverage unit to let at the complex, which will feature, in the retail area, GAP Outlet, Nike Factory Store and Next Outlet, H&M, The Body Shop, Holland and Barrett, Regatta Outdoors, Trespass, Pretty Green, Carharrt and Pringle of Scotland, bespoke candle retailer Farringdon and Forbes and childrenswear line Legowear.

Spanish children’s fashion retailer Charanga and ladies fashion designer Winser London will open in early November.




Open for business on October 21 will be TGI Fridays and Pizza Express and Patisserie Valerie.

Las Iguanas is joining the range of places to eat from mid-November.

“Our mix of high profile tenants who do what they do brilliantly and the exciting new bar and restaurant concepts we have created specifically for this development merge together to form Europe’s first large scale resort destination.

“When Resorts World Birmingham becomes fully operational our guests will be able to experience the unique atmosphere and offer of a resort destination.”
