SILHILLIANS are are being invited to raise a glass for charity at the third annual three Lions Beer Festival this weekend.

The event, organised by Acocks Green Lions, Shirley Lions and Solihull Lions promises to be the biggest and best yet with 18 real ales and five ciders on offer.

Doors open at Shirley British Legion in Parkgate, Shirley from noon until 10pm on September 13 and 14.

Ken Barker, beer festival chairman, said: “The beer festival always has two objectives – to provide an opportunity to taste some real ales and to raise money for charity.

“All the ales are sourced from local breweries, so the event supports the local economy and the nominated charity for the event is a local Solihull charity.”

Proceeds will go to Solihul Wheels for All, a cycling group for all abilities and ages and other Lions charities.

Ken added: “We hope the public will support us sufficiently to enable us to purchase a specialist cycle for the group.

“Wheels for All is a nationally recognised programme that embraces all children and adults with disabilities and differing needs, to engage in a quality cycling activity providing fun and stimulating cycling across the UK.

“By using specially adapted cycles, the activities are both physically and mentally stimulating and above all fun for everyone involved”.

Entrance costs £10, which includes a souvenir glass, beer tokens, a programme and entry into a raffle.
