AN ELDERLY woman was rushed to hospital with a serious arm injury after being hit by a lorry.

Emergency services arrived to find a lady, believed to be in her 70s, lying injured on the side of the Stratford Road in Shirley, after being called at about 1.40pm this afternoon (Wednesday).

The road still remains close.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said the woman was treated for her injuries, immobilised and had pain relief administered at the scene before she was rushed to Heartlands Hospital.

An ambulance and a paramedic area support officer attended the scene.

Any witnesses are urged to call police on 101.
