Gymshark co-founder Ben Francis climbs The Sunday Times Rich List as his wealth rises to £900million

GYMSHARK co-founder Ben Francis has retained his place in The 2022 Sunday Times Rich List after increasing his wealth by £200million in the past 12 months.

Ben, who started the sportswear business in Bromsgrove before moving it to Solihull, via Redditch, is now estimated to be worth £900million and currently occupies eighth place in the top ten West Midlands entrepreneurs.

He has risen in the national list from 226nd last year – when he made it onto the list for the first time – to 191st.

The 2022 Sunday Times Rich List is the definitive guide to wealth in the United Kingdom, charting the wealth of the 250 richest people in the UK.

The list is based on identifiable wealth, including land, property, other assets such as art and racehorses, or significant shares in publicly quoted companies.

It excludes bank accounts, to which the paper has no access.

Ben, who studied business and management at Aston University, is now 29 and became the youngest-ever winner of the EY’s Entrepreneur of the Year award last year.

In February, because of his skills, experience and expertise, he was enlisted to a new advisory group of senior business leaders from across the region to help aid the West Midlands’ economic recovery from the pandemic.

And last month he received an honorary doctorate from Aston University.
