CARE provider Home Instead Solihull has brought some sunshine to its elderly clients by providing sunflower seeds and challenging them to grow the tallest one.

The company, which offers services to enable residents to live independently in their own homes, launched the contest to bring some cheer and brightness and the chance to enjoy nature after what has been a tough year.

Aimee Facer, registered manager at Home Instead Solihull, said: “Launching a sunflower competition brought so much joy to our clients and caregivers, as they watched them grow and develop, as well as admiring them once they had bloomed.

“We love bringing smiles and happiness to our clients and wanted to do something that could be enjoyed throughout the summer.

The competition was a great success, with our wonderful client Doreen growing the tallest sunflower.”

Doreen added: “It was great fun growing the sunflowers with the help of my caregiver.

“I thought my sunflower grew wonderfully, and I was delighted to hear that it was the tallest! It is a bright and happy addition to my garden which makes me smile every time I look at it.”
