FITNESS fanatics are being called upon to get out their running shoes and get involved with this year’s Solihull half marathon next month.
The Solihull Group of the Multiple Sclerosis Society has been chosen by organisers, KP Events, as this year’s nominated charity.
Hockley Heath runner Debbie Jones will be heading to the start line on April 8 with her daughter Georgie and her niece Emily O’Connor.
The trio will be running in honour of Debbie’s father who had MS.
She said: “This is a huge challenge for me as I’ve never run more than 5k before, but I’ve been training hard and am only too pleased to do this for such a great cause.”
Antoinette Fisher, Chair of the MS Solhull Group, said: “This is a great opportunity to raise awareness and much needed funds for the Group.
“All the money we raise is used to help people living in the Solihull area who are affected by MS.
“We provide physio sessions, a self help group, social outings, and run an adapted mini bus. But none of this would be possible without the support of the local community.
“There’s no minimum amount they need to raise. We’d just like as many people running in an MS t-shirt.”
Anyone running for MS get a discount on their registration fee and will be sent a free fundraising pack.
